The Hoffman Center for the Arts’ Manzanita Film Series will screen the 2014 award-winning feature film “A Standing Still” Friday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be $5. Directed by Scott Ballard of Portland the film tells the story of a young recluse who works as a fire lookout in the forest and struggles with the future in the midst of loss and displacement.

The Powered by Teens 4-H Club will be hosting a Rummage sale Memorial Day weekend, May 22nd-24th at Bay City hall in Bay City. The sale is Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm and Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm. There will be a bag sale Sunday afternoon, fill a bag for $5.00. Proceeds will go to support the Powered by Teen Washington DC citizenship and leadership retreat trip, July 6th to 12th. To donate items contact the Tillamook OSU Extension Service at 503-842-3433.

Please join Permaculture expert, Marisha Auerbach, for a weekend workshop focused on how to use site analysis and permaculture design to develop appropriate landscaping features, such as vegetable gardens, orchards, medicinal herb gardens, and community features. The workshop will be at North Fork 53, a future permaculture demonstration site, which will provide accommodations for visitors to the coast, educational events, weddings, farm to table dinners, summer camps, and more. Since there are diverse goals for this site, we will be assessing how to develop the design for mixed use.
The Chorale’s spring concert of American Traditional & Folk Music is not to be missed: hear standards such as Native American Prayer, Down by the Riverside, America the Beautiful, Simple Gifts, Country Style, and Beautiful Dreamer. The Clatsop County Children’s Chorus, founded by Dr. Reed in 2013, will be joining NCC for this concert.
Portland Classic Guitar is proud to announce an exciting afternoon of international Classical Guitar at the Beach with Italian guitarist Roberto Fabbri, Chilean guitarist Alberto Cumplido, and Portland based guitarists William Jenks, and David Tutmark performing four solo sets at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church located at the Oregon Coast near Manzanita (36335 N. Hwy 101, Nehalem, OR 97131) on Sunday, May 17 at 4:00 PM. Fabbri and Cumplido are two of the most exciting international guitarists on the scene today and coupled with local guitar heroes Jenks and Tutmark; this promises to be a rare opportunity to hear so many diverse styles of music in one afternoon.
